iPhone 3G Hits US$1000 on eBay

Apple has failed to meet the demands of iPhone hungry world community and that has cause the price to rise on eBay for the iPhone 3G. Since its launch on 11th July, 2008 in 20 countries worldwide, include in the United States, there are still people queuing up outside Apple Stores and AT&T stores. No one knows when this demand will last but it is said that Apple will only be able to meet this demand by the third quarter, but by the end of the year, Apple aims to bring the iPhone 3G to a total of seventy countries worldwide.

At this point of writing, there are eBayers bidding for jail broken and “could be unlocked” iPhone 3G devices on eBay up till US$1000. That’s rather scary to see people think it is worthy to spend that much on “just” a device like the iPhone, 3G or not. However, people who are familiar with eBay and other auction marketplaces would know that not all bidders are genuine and not all winners will pay. But then, anything can happen on eBay when you think that there were people who paid up to US$1500 for a pair of FREE Bon Jovi Central Park concert tickets a couple of weeks ago.

Also, if you are planning to bid on just such an iPhone 3G on eBay or anywhere online, do read carefully that these Sellers are saying that the iPhone 3G could be unlocked. So no, they are not yet currently unlocked.

Personally, if I have US$1000 to splash, it will definitely not be on an iPhone 3G, though the idea of using a SIM-free iPhone 3G is extremely tempting!
