How To Access Hotmail From iPhone
I was very frustrated when I could not access my Hotmail from my iPhone. I know Hotmail isn’t the best free email service but then I have been using it for so long and it is my primary email address that I loathe to change it. It’s too bad that Microsoft does not allow us to retrieve our email any other way except via their Hotmail [now Windows Live] website or by using Outlook Express.
On my desktop, I retrieve my Hotmail via Outlook Express and on my Nokia E61i, I use Consilient PUSH, a free PUSH application that pushes my new Hotmail messages to my mobile device almost instantly.
It is too bad that there are no third party apps that could PUSH Hotmail to the iPhone, or at least I have not come across any, not that I have the time to search! It would be awesome, don’t you think so, even if it drains battery?
Anyway, we can actually log in to Windows Live Hotmail despite being looped non stop to the log in screen even when we have entered our user ID and password correctly.
If you are facing the same problem as I did earlier of not being able to log into my Hotmail account via iPhone’s Safari browser, shut off your phone now, switch it back on and go to http://www.hotmail.com as usual and sign in. You will be able to. Once you are done with emailing, just SIGN OUT of your account properly by clicking on the SIGN OUT link at the top right corner of your window. I am sure that you would be able to sign in again without any problem. I did this almost ten times and successfully signed in every single time.
Another option is to save this link to your Bookmarks: http://mobile.live.com This is the mobile site of Windows Live Hotmail. With this site, you don’t even have to remember signing out properly. I know I have a nasty habit of just closing my page and not sign out of any website, unless it is a financial site like Maybank2u or PayPal.
The mobile version may be stripped of all graphics and colors but at least it gets the job done. The weird thing about this Windows Live Mobile site is that no matter how many times I tried to sign out of it and it shows that I did sign out, the next time I visit the link from my Bookmarks, I am directed to my Inbox. LOL talk about two extremes!
