Google Reader On Apple iPhone

Although I have already got this screenshot saved to my computer desktop for more than ten days, I did not have the chance to check out the new Google Reader for Apple iPhone until this morning. It is still in Beta though.

I have to say that reading your list of RSS feed will be VERY fast if you do it via Google Reader on the iPhone. At first, I thought that I would be only reading the list of blogs I have saved to my Google Reader account of my default Gmail account that I have set up on my iPhone but no, I can read from another Google Reader account too so this at least beats using Google Reader on the computer on the same browser!

Google Reader on the Apple iPhone

By default, Google Reader displays your list of RSS Feeds in list view. Clicking on each item will toggle full post and title only. There is a link at the bottom of each post which you can click on to see the original post which opens in a new page. By using Google Reader on the iPhone, you can also Share and Keep the item unread, just like doing these on the computer. And you get to view images in your feed via Google Reader.

One thing though, you can only keep “full view” of an tem, one at a time. I wish that we could open full view for a few items at once because sometimes we may need to compare something or whatever. Oh yes, another set back is the inability to enlarge our page. You know how list views can be so narrow if you have more than a couple of feeds in your Reader! And I believe that if you “mark all as read” on your iPhone, it will not be reflected in your web-based Google Reader. Can anyone tell me otherwise?
