Apple & AT&T Sued

A Californian has sued Apple and AT&T for misrepresentation of the performance of the Apple iPhone 3G. He is seeking class action status against these two companies which means that if he wins, all Californian iPhone 3G - AT&T users will be eligible for compensation.

William Gillis, in his law suit, claims that both Apple and AT&T have violated Californian law by this misrepresentation. As a user of the Apple iPhone 3G running on the network of AT&T, William Gillis more often than not had to make do with EDGE connection which is considerably slower than 3G.

William Gillis also claims that Apple sold too many iPhones knowing that they are unable to support the number of users on the current network.

This is not the first time that Apple has been sued by disgruntled iPhone users. Remember a woman who sued Apple for dropping the price of the first generation Apple iPhone only after two months? Her action prompted Apple to compensate all Apple iPhone buyers with a US$100 voucher.

More recently, a woman sued Apple for slow 3G connection. I am sure this lawsuit by William Gillis is not the last. It is American culture to sue whereas in Malaysia, unhappy users would most probably just buy another device and/or terminate their subscription with the under-performed mobile service provider.
